Kijo Town guide

Our company is now constructing Omarugawa power station in Kijo Town, Koyu, Miyazaki, Japan. Kijo Town is located in the center of Miyazaki prefecture. This town is 146 square kilometers in area and form 1.9 percent of Miyazaki prefecture in area. This town forms like a belt; 6km in east and west, 24km in north and south. And Omaru River, total length about 75km, runs through center of Kijo Town. The greater part of Kijo Town is a forest and a part of it is included in Osuzi Prefectural Nature Park, so this town has plentiful nature.
Besides, Kijo Town is famous for “Hyuuga new village”, which was established by Japanese famous writer Mushanokouji-Saneatsu who had hoped to construct a utopia there in 1918.

“The site of Takajo castle”
	The old days Ito, the ruler of Hyuuga, stationed 48 castles around Hyuuga. Takajo castle was one of his castles and prospered as an important castle. Now only a part of the castle remains surrounded by weeds in mountain, but it has many heroes’ legend.

“Picture book village” cultivates children’s sensitivity
	Picture book village, surrounded by the mountains, has plentiful nature and relaxes you. Here, you can spend quiet time and enjoy music, drama and mainly picture book. Will you remember your childhood and talk with your children from similar viewpoint?

“The new village”

Japanese famous writer Mushanokouji-Saneatsu established it. Saneatsu visited Ishikawachi, Kijo Town in November 1918 and built “The new village” with an ideal to live like a human. He respected for human love and he aimed to establish the village where people live mainly on agriculture.
Since then this new village maintains to date and becomes the 87^th anniversary in cooperation with the whole country and village members.

Legend of Korean royalty “Hiki shrine”
	The ancient state “Kudara” in the Korean Peninsula ruined in 660, then many royalties and officers defected to Japan. Among these exiles, Fukuchiou, one of the royalties, and his father wandered to Miyazaki, then he ruled this area with superior hand, so he earned the esteem of the public and he was buried at Hiki shrine after his death. It is Hiki shrine’s history.
